About Us

University of Queensland Interfaculty Competitions Inc. (UQIC) is a non-for-profit, student volunteer organisation established in 2011 to promote healthy competition between the faculties of UQ via a sporting medium. UQIC strives to provide students with the chance to form relationships, socialise and learn from each other, all whilst enjoying the benefit of healthy activity.

In 2023, we are offering seven different team sporting options. These are:

  • Men’s Rugby Union
  • Mixed Touch Rugby League
  • Mixed Netball
  • Mixed Soccer
  • Mixed Basketball
  • Mixed Dodgeball
  • Mixed Beach Volleyball

These sports are played on the St Lucia campus on weeknights of Semester 1&2
A season consists of teams playing 10 rounds of regular competitions between Weeks 2-12.

Additional to our regular competitions, UQIC hosts four premier events throughout the year. These events are:

  • Executive TRL Day
Held in Sem 1, UQIC hosts a round robin TRL carnival for numerous club executives on campus. Reaching capacity at 30 teams for 2022, this event is always under high demand by club execs and serves as a vital driver for club involvement in our Sem 2 Competitions.
  • Fixture Mixer
This is a social evening held at the start of our Semester 1 & 2 Comps where teams get acquainted in a series of fun games paired with a modest tab for food and drink.
  • GALA Day
Gala Day is arguably UQ’s premier sporting carnival. Similar to our Exec TRL Day, our GALA is a round robin tournament for all members across all seven sports.
  • Interfaculty Awards Night
In 2018, we held the inaugural Interfaculty Awards Night to be held at the end of the Semester 2 season with this continuing for yet another year in 2023. This night will boast numerous new perpetual trophies, wooden spoons and media competitions.
