We are so excited to bring you Semester 1 Sports for the first time ever and what better to kick the season off than our long awaited for Fixture Mixer!

This year’s comp will kick off in week 2, where you’ll meet your new teammates and no doubt find out you’ve made the big league and scored some keepers!BUT, to aid you in making the big time, UQIC is throwing their Fixture Mixer to continue that team bonding off the fields and courts.

On Thursday in week one, come along to meet your team and join UQIC at Kickons for a scrum & coke and size up the competition! As the night goes on, friendly competition between teams will have players scoring prizes and creating that team chemistry.

Your 2022 UQIC Registration will be your ticket into the party of the year, so slip on those tight and bright team jerseys or singlets, slap on a cap and try not to foul out and bench yourself at the one and only Fixture Mixture!

Spirit Report

Tired legs running, cutthroat tactics initiated and post-match beers consumed. For the daringly competitive participants of UQ Interfaculty Competitions, the past weeks have been fierce. From the sideline team huddles, you can taste the ambitions of rivaling societies allured by the prospect of sipping from the Holy Steele Grail. And what an exquisite gulp it would be when knowing that this year marks the 100th Anniversary of the Steele Cup and the inception of interfaculty rivalry at UQ.

Strategy comes in many forms. Physio backs their ‘natural athletic ability’ and knowledge of the human physique to deliver victory, whereas, ChESS opts to flood the competition with teams and pray at least one is good. CESA believes in teamwork they must truss, while LAW students collude on which rules they can allege the other team has broken. Time will tell who’s to be crowned interfaculty champions…

UQIC President 2018

SPIA; 2018 Exec TRL Champion

UQ SPIA battled it out with UQBA (both undefeated) in a thriller that ended with a sudden death try crowning SPIA Exec TRL Champion of 2018.

The exec TRL event had 26 teams and 325 players involved.
Notable mentions for the teams that made it into the finals:
EBESS, CESA, QPSA (Physio), OOPS, UQIC and EUS.

2017 Wrap-up

2017 was a big step for UQIC with the introduction of 7-a-side soccer and to have, for the first time, over 1000 members across five sports. UQIC also welcomed UQU and the RE as our major sponsors which made it possible for us to host the Fixture Mixer and Gala Day.

We all work very hard and aim to be bigger and better every year. We would like to thank every single member for being a part of our best year yet.

Competitions still run in semester 2 only so look out for posts regarding sign-ons on our Facebook page. We look forward to seeing you all in 2018.
